Anything asking exemption from cap means asking unlimited numbers that should have real luck to pass in the Senate. If lobbying persons come with reasonable numbers then that should have some chance to pass. But it needs to be seen for the reaction of house.

Why don't you send PM to IV core members and discuss the issue with them? This may be your starting point. Discuss with them about IVs position on this issue and how soon they may take up this issue with high priority. Also they may advice you about the right persons (senators/Congressmen) to contact etc.
I advice do not use this forum to communicate with IV core team as you already know very well that there are many people who are already scared to lose their chance if your labor is approved.

My earlier offered me ticket to my home country when they let me go. They specified in letter that they are offerring this according to the law. But I think its not neccessary to have employer to send termination letter to USCIS. Actually person can request company to stop sending this letter if employer is intend to. This way employer will not going to loose anything.

Since stay in India need to be very short and also my travel is very near, I need to know whether it is safe to travel on an approved I 797 from my current employer?
I already have a H1 B VISA stamped on my passport with previous employer's name that expires on 30 Nov 2009.
Also, I would like to know whether I should select yes/no to the following question?
Are you applying for the same class of visa which is currently valid or has expired within the past 12 months?*
Is H1B Transfer = H1B Renewal?

I am in EB2 ADP with PD Feb'09. No cheating there ! :)
I understand that if a lot of EB3 guys, who have been waiting for years, start porting to EB2, they will end up in the queue before me :(. And with that knowledge, I will still support EB3-EB2 porting.
EB3 guys, porting is your best option. I hear a lot of EB2 asking you to go get a new job where they are willing to
a. Hire you with your H1B status,
b. Agree to file your GC, and
c. Agree to do it in EB2 category. (Think about the min wage they have to give and prove etc.)
It is way easier said than done in the current economy. But if you find one, go for it. That is a way of respite for you folks. For others, try porting to EB2 with your current company.
There have been cases where EB3 was filed when the candidate was eligible for EB2 and there have been cases other way round too. But talking about none of them helps your cause. Similarly, fighting amongst us doesn't help either. Don't get me wrong if I say that with EB2 movement, if EB2 becomes current by the end of next year, EB3 will start seeing a good benefit of spill overs. So with current laws, getting EB2 out of the way will actually help your cause
Eliminating per country limit will help everyone. We should fight for that, EB3 and EB2 together.
Seriously try for porting. I have been waiting just a year, and already know how many decisions get put on hold because of this process.

I loved Fragomen. Very responsive and are working over weekends to expedite applications..
I highly recommend them.

I kinda resigned myself to the fact that these big firms will take a while to process these applications and wasnt expecting anything from them atleast till the third week of July.

Just based on the definition given by DOL I decided Level III and Level IV to be EB2. Besides I am EB2 and my wage level is Level IV. I agree it is hard to conclude the cat based on wage level, I saw there were some Senior welders in Level III as well as Vice presidents of the companies. Quite a contradiction isn't it!!
I think Level indicates the Step within the existing Job Title. For example, a Senior Programmer Analyst could have a level 2 or 3 but an Entry level Project Manager could have a level 1 or 2. I think one would have to use a combination of Level and SOC Code.

I am guessing the presumption behind logiclife's post is that we're all responsible, thinking and educated adults who shouldn't have to be begged and pleaded with to behave with decency or show some common courtesies at the least. If IV was formed a few months ago, then it's understandable tho not excusable that people who have legitimate ead/ap concerns just talk about it on the forum and then leave. But if someone's been around for more than a year and still has not participated in a meeting or contributed in other ways its truly pathetic. Even tho I don�t track every piece of news on immigration, I consider myself fairly well informed and day by day the outlook only gets scarier. Today at lunch, we were talking about junk forwards and poking fun at those who send them and a friend mentioned how he has been getting so many fwds with anti-immigrant messages these days(my friends are obviously pro-legals, somewhat ambivalent about illegals but not the lou audience type & don�t lose sleep over a bunch of poor busboys/gardeners crossing the border). This anti movement is growing powerful by the day with clear agendas and goals but theres no countervailing pro-movement to speak of except iv, only sympathisers. Yesterday Lou was on tv promoting his book to princeton club in new york. After Lou had chewed off on the illegals in response to a question, another member conveniently queried him on what he thought of the top end of the immigration spectrum worked. After labelling H1b a disaster(in other words people like us are here in the US because of a broken program) he sought to portray congressional hearings as some farce as apparently only Bill Gates was invited to speak this year. He ofcourse didn�t mention that orgs like CIS, numbersusa and others were invited last year when his friends like Tancredo were running congress, orgs that would be labelled as hate groups in normal times in the halls of congress helping set policy! And then he said that 75% of H1bs goto Indians in the US who work for Indian companies domociled here to just to outsource American jobs. Not only did he make a chillingly racist assertion based on a complete lie, he was implicitly advocating shutting down the only legal avenue to immigrate for people like us who didn't win a genetic lottery and were born into the right family! This, in New york of all places and that too at Princeton club after dissing about 'elites' and how 'acquiescent' some were!! Voicing some legitimate concerns of the common man along with radical or divisive agendas are nothing new but he's taking it to new levels. That's why as someone else already said elsewheer, iv shld be more than a bulletin board to discuss legitimate ead/ap concerns- it�s the only openly pro-immigrant(EB)movement. There are a few opinion journalists penning a piece here & there but that doesn't help much. Some of us are in cozy well paying jobs who are certain to get gc's and can wait however long it takes but that�s no reason to sitby and let others who are not so certain about their future struggle alone. And finally, we all have been yelled at and its not the end of the world so getover it dontr be such friggin crybabies!

I just called again and the lady was completely clueless about the whole July 2 fiasco. I will try again in another hour and hopefully I won't get the village idiot again.
For anyone interested in calling themselves here is the info: 1-800-375-5283 options 1, 2, 3 (and possibly 6 after that-I can't remember).
Visa is generally assigned to an application only if it has cleard background checks etc...and ready to be approved... They never assign Visa on receiving the application

We only talk about global warming, environmental polution, water pollution, air pollution etc etc.
Its time we start talking about "global though and emotion pollution".
Every house, group, town, city, state, country are all a collection of thoughts and emotions. If you could quantify these you could measure the amount of "waste" often with tremendously long half life periods that many of us are disposing into this pool. This is the greatest pollution from which infact all other pollutions even start to originate.
Our role during this life is to put some effort in trying to clean up this pool just like BP is now trying to clean up the oil mess.
How to start? stop being critical and avoid dissipating harmful thought about self and others:D:D:D

Why not file on your own??? they charge a ton ... heck you could buy an iphone with service for a year with what they charge ....the quote they gave me was :
